HOW TO ...post a link

Copy your link by right clicking on the URL and selecting 'copy'
Click on the URL button in the toolbar above your 'post a topic/reply' box
Right click and select 'paste' to insert your link into the URL box
Enter a description of your link
Click 'OK'

HOW TO ...post a photo

You can host your photo on sites such as
Imageshack
or Photobucket

- For Imageshack - Select browse to find an image that you want to upload. Select an image, press OK/Open, and then press the "Host it!" button. After a short while (depending on your internet connection and image size), your image will upload and you will see a number of boxes with linking code for your uploaded image. Depending on your use for the image, use any one of these linking codes.

- For Photobucket - Tutorial

When you have uploaded your image to your host site, then 'copy' the URL (starting http://)

Click on the display image sign on the toolbar (second from the right) which opens a box - here you 'paste' your image URL.

Please ensure your photo isn't too big, if it is then try posting the link to the host site instead. Imageshack now has a feature for re-sizing pics for forum/message board sizes... just check the right option in the drop-down box when you upload the pic... this is highlighted in the pic below.

HOW TO ...receive email notification of new messages

From the toolbar, select
'Go'
'Personal Zone'
'Notifications' in the drop-down boxes.

Here you can manage the topics you wish to keep track of both in your private messages and the forums.

HOW TO ...post

There are four different posting screens available.

Click on 'New' in the toolbar.

'Discussion' allows you to add a new topic to that particular forum.
'Poll' allows you to create a new poll in the forum.
Private Message' or PM - you select a contact in your buddy list, or add a member by clicking 'Find New Buddies'. select add then 'Invite Members' and complete your post.
Photo Album - follow steps 1 to 4.


Tips when posting new topics and replying


On the left of the text entry box, there is the clickable emoticons box - you can click on these to add them to the content of your message (these are sometimes known as 'smilies').

Quoting Posts

Displayed below each post in a topic, there are three icons. The first is a 'Reply with a Quote' button. Pressing this button will allow you to reply to a topic, and have the text from a particular reply quoted in your own reply. When you choose to do this, an extra text field will appear below the main text input box to allow you to edit the content of the post being quoted.

Editing Posts

Next to the Quote button is the 'Edit' button. Pressing this will allow you to edit or delete the post that you had previously made.

Quick Reply

Next to the reply button is a 'quick reply' option on each topic. Clicking this will open up a posting box on the topic view screen, cutting down on the time required to load the main posting screen.

HOW TO ...edit your profile

You can add an avatar or a signature to personalise your profile.

From the drop-down boxes,
select 'Go', 'Personal Zone', 'Profile'.

Click 'View/Edit/Complete Profile.

Option to chose an avatar or add a signature to your posts.

Click Submit!

HOW TO ...upload your own avatar

From the drop-down boxes,
select 'Go', 'Personal Zone', 'Profile'.

Click 'View/Edit/Complete Profile.

Avatar/Picture URL - click Edit.

Select Custom Avatar.

Then Browse - select your picture from your files.

***Important: Ensure it is 48 x 48 pixels!***

(You can use software like Photoshop or host sites such as Photobucket to edit the size of your picture.)

Click Update Avatar.
